The space their players had was shocking.

Re: What has changed since last season?
Whatever anyone's feelings for Allardyce are, despite a decent run in the League prior to Christmas the board backed neither him personally or the squad that January in a way that suggested we wanted to build on it so predictably the second half of the season was an anti-climax.

Last season the board pretty much mirrored their lack of ambition again in the January to capitalise on a great position they found themselves in the League.

All that seems to have happened this season is the board seem to have decided not to wait until January to show a reluctance to exploit an opportunity to extend the ambition of the clubs with the necessary investment in the summer instead.

In all seriousness though little has actually changed since last season if we look at our record since February, if anything the major change is more clubs are now exploiting those long term weaknesses in how Slaven sets up his team, weaknesses the club be it Slaven or the board clearly the felt did not require addressing properly in the summer.

I was behind the goal which we were defending 2nd half. On Soton's corners no-one was taking charge; no-one was shouting. That was when Nobes was there.

Re: What has changed since last season?
We can't defend and our attacking players are half the ones they were last year and our midfield can't use the ball efficient enough

a huge part of our play was the full backs committing and having an influence in the final third. It's hardly happened so far this season

And Bilic is getting more and more decisions wrong

Tomshardware 12:37 Mon Sep 26
Re: What has changed since last season?
Zico, there is no discipline there and hasn't been for a while in regards to the defensive midfielder role. They basically aren't doing their job. Remember Scott Parker, despite being in a shit team back then he was outstanding at the defensive midfield role, he protected the back 4 and did all the dirty work and quite often put his head where it hurt. How we miss someone like that at the moment.

Re: What has changed since last season?
Kouyate is a strange one to be honest. I have never quite known what to make of him because despite his size and assumed strength he doesn't really come across as particularly strong in the challenge. At his best he seems to be everywhere but in the last few games when defending I noted that he is just meandering about on the edge of it all, maybe just poking a foot in when near enough, but too many times both him and Noble seem out of the picture and you have three or four opposition attackers against our back four (if we are lucky).

Noble and Kouyate if it's a 4231 we are trying to play shouldn't be constantly ahead of the ball when we lose possession. What should be happening is those two sitting deep with the front four attacking and the full backs overlapping, all the time with a safe block of four (2 DM's and 2 CB's) at all times sitting back. That isn't happening and we are getting caught.

Drop Kouyate NOW

Runs away from making challenges and has FUCK ALL discipline in the most disciplined role in the starting 11.

Same board...

Same manager...

Virtually the same squad bar 10 new players...

Only thing that has changed is the shithole embarrassment of a stadium

The interview with Ogbonna tells you all you need to know.

He said they needed to prove themselves last year. They don't feel that this year.

In other words, they are being lazy wankers.

Re: What has changed since last season?
Completely agree Chester, it's just not good enough, our net spend was well under £50 million. As I said earlier the fans kept their end of the bargain but the owners did not. I was happy with the Ayew signing but there should have been 3 or 4 15- 20 million pound players signed not one.

ChesterRd 12:07 Mon Sep 26
Re: What has changed since last season?
The biggest issue for me is not what has changed but what has not changed and that is the shithouse owners trying to do things on the cheap.

They have had 52k ST money up front, all the corporate sold out with money up front, sale of the old ground, increased shirt sponsorship, more prize money coming 7th then they would have budgeted for. We had Bilic and Payet lighting up the Euros.

We will not be in a better position than we were during the summer and what did the owners do? Bleat about value for money and largely signing a shed load of cheap shit, freebies and loans. We did not spend £50m fucking million this summer and most of what they have spent will be on tick.
WHERE HAS THE FUCKING MONEY GONE?

No wonder the clubs they run are regularly relegated. The sooner those pensioner spivs in charge either fuck off or die the better and take the gooner bitch with them

And yes I am fucking pissed off right now.

Re: What has changed since last season?
Cress well is a massive miss for us. I don't think the full backs overlapped once today. His movement and link up play with payet created a lot of chances for us last year.

Also centre midfield is being bypassed too easy by opponents.

Pagey 12:00 Mon Sep 26
Re: What has changed since last season?
Both probably. We'll never have a season again where we have so many amazing away victories like we did last season and all the 'big' clubs have improved beyond what we have. We've always had issues when beating lesser teams.

Add that to the stadium move and a mid table finish was always likely.

I didn't think for one minute that things would be this shit though.

Re: What has changed since last season?
Pagey, when you say we were never going to do this season what we did last season do you mean in terms of PL points scored or the teams we beat?

Koeman and Southampton had consecutive 60 plus point finishes and I reckoned we had enough about us to do the same. Admittedly I expected the season to be the right way round where we do better against the teams we should beat rather than those above us.

Pagey 11:44 Sun Sep 25
Re: What has changed since last season?
We were never going to match what we did last season, for various reasons. However, this season has been a total shambles.

Bilic has lost his edge. I personally think that he got so many plaudits as a pundit at the Euro's that he has lost focus in a big way. The Bilic of last season wouldn't have stood for any of this shit.

Noble was brilliant last season but his ego is out of control. All the 'Mr West Ham' bullshit around the stadium doesn't help but he's got way above his station. He is showing an arrogance in interviews that he never had before and it's as if he doesn't need to try on the pitch any more. He's been shocking and slow.

The defence as a unit have completely forgotten how to play the game and going forward we are awful. Zaza looks horrific but he's had absolutely no service either.

Cresswell has been a massive loss. He gives us so much in attack and defence and the sooner he us back the better.

Going out of Europe was a major fuck up and the trend has just continued to ridiculous levels. Losing becomes a habit and we are in deep trouble. Fuck knows what the answer is.

Re: What has changed since last season?
I thought Tomkins did well at right back, but the reasons given for letting him go was to give Oxford a sight of first team football, well that's clearly bollocks as he never got a game on Wednesday and isn't look a look in is limey any day soon.

I'd love people on here to be honest, who the fuck had heard of Feghouli, Calleri, Nordveit and co? Nobody if they're honest, it was a Punt by the board and it's looking like an awful decision just like the decision to let Tomkins go.

Dan

Well said, I was not having the Tomkins sale and copped the hump then and still have it

When we lost our creative players we dug in, put Tomkins RB and went quite a few matches looking rock solid not losing, drawing a few granted, but bang tight

Look at the fucking FB/defensive shambles we have now
